Japan's First Microprogrammed Computer

KT-Pilot
KT-Pilot

In 1961, Toshiba completed development of a prototype electronic computer in cooperation with Kyoto University that used microprogramming.

The machine was named KT-Pilot, combining the first letters of "Kyoto University" and "Toshiba."
It was the first domestic calculator to use thinfilm memory.
The calculator made use of the parallel asynchronous high-speed calculation method, and incorporated a high-speed basic circuit utilizing the newly developed silicon mesa transistor.
