In 1908, the Kawasaki Factory of Tokyo Electric Company started its operation in Horikawa-cho.

It started full-scale production and the sale of the tungsten filament light bulb "MAZDA Lamp" from 1911.
"MAZDA" is a registered trademark used for standardizing tungsten filament bulbs by leading lamp manufacturers in the world.
It derives from the highest deity of worship and the lord of light and wisdom in Zoroastrianism, Ahura Mazda (Ahura means light and Mazda means wisdom).
