World's First DVD Player
From the beginning of the 1990s, our company started the development of the next generation image packaging medium which recorded a whole movie to a 12 cm disc, the same size as a music CD.
By the development of the digital image data compression technology (MPEG-2) and the high density disc which had a capacity about 7 times higher than a CD, We made the SD (present-day DVD) disc which offered high image and audio quality.
Later, with the agreement of movie companies, computer companies, and companies in the industry around the world, the DVD format we introduced was standardized.
In November, 1996 we put the first ever DVD player, SD-3000 on the market.
