Japan's First Gas Turbine for Power Generation

Gas turbine originally developped for prewar motor torpede boat dug up and reborn as Japan's first post-war gas turbine for power generation.

In 1943, we started developping a motor torpedo boat engine for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Gas turbine was not available in Japan at that time.
When the war ended, the engine was buried as it was thought to be no longer necessary.After that the gas turbine was dug up and the engine was rebuilt Japan's first gas turbine for power generation in 1949.
Toshiba entered into technical cooperation with overseas company and manufactered many gas turnines for power generation to domestic and overseas.
Toshiba contributed Japan's gas turbine technology development.
