Japan's First Electric Washing Machine
In 1930 Shibaura Engineering Works put the first Japanese-made agitator washing machine, "Solar" on the market.
It was a product which made free use of the cutting-edge technology of the time.
The washing capacity was 6 pounds (approx. 2.7 kg).
The price, 370 yen, was high, as the starting salary for a banker was about 70 yen at that time; therefore, it was beyond the reach of common households.
